TransitCamp spot on the CBC

I was on CBC Radio’s The Early Edition the other day being interviewed by Rick Cluff about TransitCamp, which is coming up very soon! The spot went better than I thought, now that I hear it. If you plan on attending TransitCamp, and haven’t yet signed up, please do so on the wiki or the Facebook page. And if you have no clue what I’m talking about, check out the interview :)

I’d like to thank Joan Chang for inviting me on, and for the great team at the always wonderful Early Edition for making me feel welcome in the studio.

  1. You were more articulate than the interviewer! What is your secret to enunciating thoughtful sentences so God-awful early? Industrial-strength espresso? ….Unfortunately, I have to tutor on Saturday, so I’ll miss Transit Camp, but could you get an answer, to this, if possible: When will Translink will have accurate GPS-fed info on bus locations and an effective measure of late bus arrivals, so the problems can be identified? For instance, at times the schedules on the 22 and 16 are pure science fiction, bearing no relation to reality. Grrrrrr….

  3. Thanks for the nice comments everyone!

@ Tim. GPS is being added progressively across the fleet in the next year or so.

Although you do bring up an excellent point. Beyond the traditional news release, TransLink has absolutely no way (other than the bi-weekly Buzzer) to inform users of these new upgrades. Which, makes a bad situation for everyone, because TransLink continues to get a bad rap cause it seems like the aren’t doing anything, and the transit users continue to get upset at their system cause it seems like nothing’s being done to improve it. It’s this terrible loop. They really need a guy like me on the team to fix this weird communications strategy.
